Changes to Business due to covid -19
In light of recent changes resulting from the current Coronavirus epidemic, we have made some changes to the way we shall be operating both Biddy's Tea Room in Norwich, and Biddy's Kitchen in Aylsham.
The safety of our staff and customers is our priority and these changes are in place to protect people and stop the spread of the virus. We will have a zero-tolerance approach to anyone found breaking these rules, including any customers who put our staff or other customers at risk.
Our shops will be open for takeaway from the 4th July and for online orders from the 10th July. This may change depending on government guidance
We shall be keeping the tearooms and inside eating spaces closed until further notice. We believe that there is no way we can operate these spaces safely or efficiently with a 2m rule in place, and we do not believe the pandemic is under control enough to shorten the distance. This will mean our toilets and will remain closed to customers. However, we will open our courtyard and outside spaces as we feel that customers will be more comfortable eating in the open air at this time. This outside area will be unmanaged by us as we will be working on a skeleton staff. But we will be providing a sanitising station and bins for customer use.
We will not be taking bookings until we feel there has been a significant shift in understanding the virus and I can bring a fuller team back in. Please remember that our vouchers do not expire and you will not be expected to spend them within a timescale.
This set up will mean we are unable to offer our usual Afternoon Tea including teapots and china. All food service will currently be in the form of takeaway and in disposable containers. We believe this is best to reduce any risk of contamination once we reopen.
We will be offering a slightly reduced menu as a result. However, we have increased other areas of the business including our postal service and Afternoon Teas for collection. We have more Gluten-free and Vegan options for postage and collection too. I will be updating our website with our new menu as soon as it is tested and finalised.
Staff will be provided with additional protective equipment, including gloves and face masks. We will be operating a one in one out policy and ask customers to try and use the menu board situated outside to make their choice before coming into the shop. We want to serve customers inside as quickly and efficiently as possible so you can go on and enjoy your treats!
Please do keep an eye out on our website over the next 2 weeks as we will be working to add our new items ready for the 4th July and 10th July respectively.
Please bear in mind some things laid out above might change as we find our feet. These changes are in place to protect our team and customers from the virus as well as aiming to get the business through a, particularly challenging time. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Kindest Regards, Charlie Buchan
